Barrel-Aged Bona Fide was aged in Templeton Whiskey barrels to add layers of depth and flavor with Madagascar vanilla beans and a single origin fully washed Peruvian coffee. Look for bold notes of wood, whiskey, coffee, and dark chocolate with nuances of vanilla. Barrel-Aged Bona Fide pours opaque black in color with a firm tan head.

really special stuff here. i think templeton is such a unique rye whiskey, it has a flavor all its own, and its neat how much of it comes through in this beer! i often think vanilla in barrel aged beer is unnecessary, like there is enough of that character in the whiskey that its not needed, but in this case, the rye is dry and spice, even a little abrasive in here, so the mellow, smooth, rich vanilla is a great add, and its especially pungent in the nose, really mouthwatering, even an aphrodisiac to me in some ways here. the wood is strong too, must have spent some good time in these barrels. the coffee is smooth and earthy, roasted sure, but with a lot of chocolate flavor as well, really nice in the deep roasty stout, and against the barrel char here. i love whiskey and coffee together, and this gives me that profile really nicely, so slick and relaxed going down too, tons of body but not syrupy sweet or anything, it sits nicely in the belly, warming me up slowly from the inside. great choice of the barrel, i swear i can identify the templeton rye specifically here, and a great balance between the adjuncts and the base beer. amazing stuff, i am really really high on these guys right now!

Black in color with no penetration to light. There's a fingernail of brown around about half of the rim. The aroma is a very complex melange of rye whiskey, coffee, dark malt, and vanilla. I'm tasting sweet and earthy rye whiskey, dark coffee, dark malt and there's vanilla in the finish. The mouth is silky smooth and viscous.

Poured out as a dark black color with thin tan head. The smell is heavy with coffee. The barrel aging is prominent too. The taste has a nice sweet coffee flavor. The feel is full bodied. Overall it's a very nice Stout.

Poured out a jet black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of coffee, oak, wood and just a hint of vanilla. Tasted like a great blend of all the elements at work. Perfect balance of coffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon and malt.
