Bona Fide Imperial Stout is a special one off beer in collaboration with Paul Hayden and The Wine and Cheese Place. We aged our Bona Fide Imperial Stout in this single barrel of Elijah Craig 12 year. A very special project that will likely never repeat. This version of Bona Fide pours midnight black with a smooth velvety mouthfeel. Aromas of whisky, vanilla, espresso, and dark chocolate take center stage. Drink now or cellar for up to 5 years.

This experience courtesy of Josh and considered while wondering what Marques Colston was thinking and why the Patriots are so annoying.
Black with a nice khaki head that settles to a thick ring along the edges and sits like froth for a good long while.
Nose shows a pronounced whiskey heat with plenty of vanilla and some hints of berries and roast beneath.
Wow is this barrel forward. Aggressive tannins from the barrel and sharp whiskey jump in from the word go. Espresso is acrid and tinny...the vanilla tries to join but remains disjointed and awkwardly stands in the corner and says something odd every once in a while. All the other flavors stare. It's a tad uncomfortable.
Aftertaste is bitter and a bit off-putting....barrel just hangs on the palate.
This is harsh and muddled....a bit of Nelson Muntz, but perhaps not by design. It's a bully of a beer and maybe there's something positive and tender underneath, but it's likely just guts and black stuff.

On-tap, served in a teku glass
Oily black body with some faint brown bubbles along the edges of the glass and a small patch over the liquid as well. Some random dots of lace here and there.
A swirl reveals a big bourbon nose. Booze is dominant, but as you peel back the layers, it is really broad and complex. Caramel, peat, oak, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, smoke, molasses, coconut, and milk chocolate.
Huge, robust BA stout. In your face bourbon. Caramel, smoke/ash, and dark roast hit first with coffee, vanilla, coconut, and peat through the middle. The finish is a melding of all of these complex flavors with dark roast, chocolate, and booze taking the center stage.
Full-bodied. Thick and rich. Oily in spots.
This is a bad ass BA Stout. A little unwieldy in spots, but this delivers a pretty awesome experience. A deep, rich stout with a heavy dose of Elijah Craig. The latter pushing the envelope in every direction.
