Just checked the date and it is 3 months beyond its best before date.
Poured into a Delerium Christmas snifter. Pours bright and bubbly, head goes fast. No Lacing. Light sour taste, nothing bad, minor aftertaste of fruit,
Love the colour. Kind of a golden amber cloud.
goes down smooth,, but I have a tired bottle with a lot of the whizz bang kicked out of it. Will try a fresher bottle another time.

Pours gold with a large fizzy white foam. Aroma of chardonnay, wood, toffee, cheap scotch, and apples. Flavor of apples, tequila, wood, apples, and hay. Finishes earthy with alcoholic aftertaste. Light bodied, fizzy mouthfeel.

A - No head, just a few seconds of flimsy bubbles. A cloudy golden hue below. No lacing.
S - Huge musty yeast aroma, honey, vanilla, brett and little champagne.
T - Full yeasty Belgian flavour, honey, brett, sweet and little spicy, booze is noticeable for just a 5% abv.
M - High carbonation, spritzy medium body.
O - Liked this one. Typical Belgian characteristics at just 5%.

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a chalice.
A - Slightly murky amber colour with plenty of carbonation bubbles. Delicate head.
S - A big hit of sweet fruit with a touch of dark malt and various sugary aromas; most prominent are caramel and liquorice.
T - Delicate and spicy but quite light on the palate. Combination of dark malts with some sweet fruits such as melon, passionfruit & pineapple with a dash of honey.
M - The mouthfeel is dominated by the vibrantly bitter aftertaste due to the high levels of carbonation.
O - The main body of the drink itself is much less full than I'd expected, probably due to the lower than usual alcohol content for this type of beer. Another one of those peculiar BPA examples with some intriguing flavours but one that you're not going to enjoy too often.

This brew pours out as a cloudy golden color with a thin white head that settles into the beer leaving nothing behind. The smell is yeasty with some subtle spices on the nose. The taste is pretty standard for a golden ale like this. There may have been a touch of clove in the background. The mouthfeel was smooth and medium bodied. Overall it was decent I thought and would try it again.

Kastaar (De Block)
Appearance - Heavily carbonated, it built up a very large head. The head was stable for about 20 seconds, then it started fizzing like a soda and began breaking up fron the bottom up! There was a thin crust of foam suspended above a cavity for a few seconds before it collaped and merged with the rest of the foam. Once all the craziness died down there was a small persistent foam floating atop the beer. The beer itself is very effervescent clear straw, with small black floaties.
Smell - Alcohol, honey, caramel, apple, and a fruit syrup smell I can't identify specifically.
Taste - A sweet-sour start with a crisp finish and bitter and slightly yeasty aftertaste. The fruity syrup flavor is most noticeable in the finish. The alcohol is surprisingly evident for a 6% ABV. Not very complex for a Belgian.
Mouthfeel - Fairly thin with high initial carbonation. The carbonation quickly dies down to fairly low levels.
Notes - This beer has the weirdest foam I've ever seen. It get appearance points for being interesting, at least. That syrupy taste I'm not fond of, though, just gets stronger as it warms up. It starts out too carbonated for my taste, but it comes out surprisingly quickly. Its texture changes more than its flavor as it sits warming in your glass. In short, I can't really recommend this beer, even though it puts on a good show.

330 mL bottle tried 25 Jul 2007.
Lacey medium sized white head. Clear bright golden yellow color. Aroma is somewhat skunky, salty, crispy, slightly yeasty. Starts lemony, mildly sweet. Finish is creamy, slighty bitter. Light body.
Not likely to get this again.

Appearance - 5.0
Pours clear at first, then becoming hazy with fine moving particles. Bright golden yellow in colour with a towering, meringue-like, white head that leaves sticky lace.
Smell - 3.0
Quite subtle, slight pear, pale grain and husk, a little funky.
Taste - 3.0
Has the lightness of Duvel, but little of the fruity complexity. Very, very dry, with flavours of dusty, funky yeast, bready pale malt and a granny smith tartness. Not much in the way of hops. Very crisp, but for a Belgian, rather bland.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Explosive (it was a gusher), champagne-like carbonation fills the mouth, and is really a bit too much. Light bodied.
Drinkability - 3.0
Over carbonation reduces drinkability, not something I would seek out.
OVERALL - 3.4
A rather average Belgian Pale Ale, with the exception of the beautiful appearance.

Got these for $1.50 for a three-pack at Spec's warehouse on sale. The best by date was 10 days past.
Poured this fella into a Yeti snifter glass a hazy golden hue. Huge head as this one gushed a bit. Abnormally large bubbles.
Whoa! Smells like champagne yeast. Green grapes, musty white mushrooms and moldy bread.
Very bubbly, very dry. Yeast strain is unique for a beer as it almost adds a sour-esque feel to it. A decent, crisp and refreshing Belgian golden.
Was definitely worth the $0.50 per beer but it makes me wonder if the age affected this one. Tasted pretty far out there.

Single, 11.2 oz slim, slender bottle copped from New Beer Distributors on Chrystie Street in Manhattan for $2.00...
Pours a cloudy, hazy, dark-golden hue with massive, rising carbonation and a minimal head that left a minor amount of lacing...
Ultra sweet, candied sugar aroma, literally bursting with viscous honey...
Taste strongly complemented the aroma, bombarded with sugars, honey, rich malts, slight hops, cotton candy, and vanilla essences...
Creamy, rich mouthfeel, however drinkability took a slight hit due to the excessive sugar on the palate...
Worth a shot...

Really didn't know what to expect from this one, but decided to give it s shot.
Poured a hazy amber-orange color - I'd describe it as "pretty" in the glass. However, if there was a head, it dissipated in the time it took for me to sign in to BA. A uber-thin, light layer of lacing floats on the top, but that's about it.
The aroma is perfumy, flowery and a bit malty - I cant' detect any yeast or hops, though truth be told, I have a bit of a cold...still, the smell is more sweet than anything, which in this case - sadly - translates to the taste.
The mouthfeel hits the tongue with a smooth fizz, but waters down quickly.
I'm just not digging this one.

This beer pours a nice golden color with just a hint of haziness. The head was nearly non-existent. The smell was of fruit, spices, and a slight yeasty smell in the background. The taste reveals more fruit and almost a hint of apple and just a hint of spices in the background. The mouthfeel is just a tad watery, but still has a some backbone to it. Drinkability suffers due to an awkward finish to each swallow. It's watery, but dry if that makes sense. Not bad, but leaves a lot to be desired.

I picked up a 33cl bottle from a department store in Tokyo, about 440 yen. The bottle had a best-buy date of April 7 2009, and was labeled lot 07066/1.
This was a gusher as soon as I uncapped it, and it required clean-up afterwards. I was pissed by the extra effort I had to make, but I'll not knock points for it. The appearance was slightly hazy golden color, lots and lots of gushing white foam. The aroma was really nice, characteristically Belgian, sweet and a little yeasty, just a touch of hops spice. The flavor was really good, slightly sweet and with a nice malt base. It seems similar to some other Belgian Pale Ales, or maybe it's just that it hits the style definitively along with some others. Either way it's solid.
