Mostly clear apricot-orange but there's some muddy sediment in the bottom that will haze it up if you're not careful. The fizzy head rapidly dies out to a flat-seeming surface.
I don't know what it is about these apricot colored beers but it's an odd, recurring coincidence: this smells like apricot, with plenty of passion fruit backing. Almost fully fruit forward without much funk or malt or hop at all, it's insanely delightful. There may be a little musty graham and hay as it warms.
Taste is perfectly tart apricot, orange and papaya with a slight bit of earthy, oaky funk. Hints of white grape and champagne come out in the aftertaste, making this endlessly popping and drinkable.
The medium body has a nice, lightening but firm fizz and a semi-dry, never-ending tingle.
Here's another Draai Laag/Strange Roots Saison with no fruit added that handily puts beers with added fruit to shame--I'm looking at you Brainless Passion!
