On nitro tap at Smog City Brewing in Torrance, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight coffee and metallic aromas. Taste is much the same with creamy cocoa and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and smooth mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with tasty flavors but the smells are fairly subdued.
