Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brown color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a tiny bit of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is big of a roasted malt smell mixed with lots of coffee and a decent sum of a light crème and milk smell. Along with these smells comes a little bit of a cinnamon and nutmeg spice and a touch of char.
Taste – The taste begins with a big roasted malt flavor that is mixed with a slightly caramel and cinnamon sweetened latte taste. The coffee is stronger upfront, with it fading more and more as the taste moves forward. All the while the sweet caramel, milk, and spice all get stronger all while the coffee gets lighter. A little bit of a cola and nut taste come at the end, and leave one with a roasty and moderately sweet taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average side with a carbonation level that is rather average. A little bit thicker body and lower carbonation may have been slightly better for the roasted tastes, but overall the feel was OK.
Overall – A tasty porter. While not super strong in coffee it has a nice roasted and balanced flavor and makes for a nice sipping brew.
