poured from can into pint glass.
A: hazy, golden amber body, and a white head with low retention and patchy amounts of lacing, leaving a scattered foam cap across the surface
S: heavy hop with earthy pine and light citrus peachy grapefruit shades. a big dose of caramel malt as well
T: follows the nose. hop forward with a solid malt backbone.
F: fair amount of carbonation. medium-thick body. nearly on the syrupy side. a slight dry finish with a minimal coating
Overall (personal opinion):
wasn't crazy about this one, but I've also had much worse. what could have been a slightly above average IPA experience is sideswiped by the feel of the brew. the amount of hops here could use a counterbalance, in my opinion, which I would normally look for in a crispness in the mouthfeel. I will say, however, that it does remind me of some of the great IPAs I had a decade ago in my "early days" up in the WA state area at a few of the microbreweries there. I'd come back and give this one a second go.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a clear deep amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is light overall with some notes of tropical fruits and a bit of bready malt. Along with these smells comes a little bit of caramel and some light fruits of peach and apricot.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet bready flavor that has a rather strong caramel backbone. Along with these tastes are some flavors of a grapefruit hop as well as notes of pine and a bit of tropical fruit sweetness. The grapefruit gets a bit stronger as the taste advances and is joined by some flavors of earth. The mix of tastes take the taste to the end where one is left with a more grapefruit heavy and moderately sweet and malty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is medium in thickness and crispness with a carbonation level that is rather average. A thinner body and higher carbonation may have been slightly better for the caramel and grapefruit heavier flavors of the brew, but all in all the feel was OK.
Overall – Listed as a west coast IPA, I was hoping for something a bit more crisp. All said it does have a nice taste though and is a brew that is well worth at least a try.
