L- Mid gold, crystal clear, pours with 1Cm white foam head. Holds all the way down the pint glass and leaves lacing all the way too - impressive.
S- Gentle toasty bread.
T- Quite hoppy dry, but for me it's more a trad pale than anything contemporary (a plus for me). The hoppy front gives way to a lovely balanced quite meaty middle/end, the hops still there to leave a hoppy flourish in the tale-end.
F- Lovely balance between hoppy-dry and a satisfying meaty body, it's quite impressive to squeeze this presence and balance out of 4.6% ABV.
O- I like it, and I note zero out of place or balance, a lot of thought and care has gone into formulating and brewing this beer. It's likely quite versatile too as it's hoppy enough to be refreshing, yet meaty enough to be satisfying in cooler months.
ps. The lable talks of a 'floral and citrus flavour with aromas of spicy marmalade and mandarin'. Well I get none of that at all; just a damned fine beer. My wife who has a nose like a forensic K-9 bloodhound could detect 'Fruit, but that mild I can't tell what it is'. Conclusion: This is perhaps more trad style than the brewers were aiming for which suits me just fine!
'Batch 6133 BB: 10/2020. 500ml. Bought for me by my wife from The Foundry pub/brewery in Canterbury.
