Cask at the brewery tap. Dark brown with a dense frothy head.
A chocolate malt bouquet. Caramel present.
Fruity hops appear upon tasting which provide a nice balance to the malt.
Thinnish.
Based upon an 18th century recipe but tastes and feels quite modern.

Pours a lighter brown than expected, small head and film no lacing. Aromas of Chocolate, dark roasty malt adn spices. Tastes of cocoa nibs coffee, bit of heat. A little bitter at the end that fades into heat at the end. Palate is medium light and a bit light for the style, soft carbonation saves it though and is very nice. Overall a very nice beer but could use more body.
