Gaverhopke Winterbruin 2025/2026

Drank on the first day of Spring with the croci and daffodils visually competing with the apple blossoms for my attention. Yet, I could still focus on this winter brew. It was complex, warming and a welcome farewell to this wintery Winter just past. Anisfera also was fully suitable in lieu of dessert at this farmhouse gastropub that brews its own ales.

Anisfera Looks appetising; foamy like a dark roasted cappuccino in a bowl; much like that steamed cream, the foam sticks around. Smells are secondarily holiday-ish, but primarily chocolatey. Tastes are balanced; while sweet in the attack, the spices keep the malts from stealing the show... or possibly turning the beverage into syrup. Much better than medium-mouthed; chewy in truth.

I give very good Overall Hugs to Gaverhopke. This couple has been making this their home for more than this century and probably brewing the whole time. My question is: what's next?
