Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 4/30/2018. Pours slightly hazy very dark brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cooling peppermint, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, peppermint, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cooling peppermint, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal hop/mint and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of peppermint, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, peppermint, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/mint/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin, but not watery. Zero warming alcohol for 5.6%. Overall this is a very nice flavored American stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, peppermint, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Well rounded stout malt complexity and balanced cooling peppermint flavors on the finish. A very enjoyable offering.

Mankato Brewery has produced two mint stouts, one Mythic and the other just "Mint Stout". I've had both, the former poured from the can and the latter on tap at a Mankato brewpub. The nonMythic is on tops and it's not close.

Look: Deep almost reddish brown, very opaque, 1 finger head in a tall glass.

Smell: N/A, near-zero sense of smell. :/

Taste: Very roasted, hints of burnt meat (but not in an bad sense) mixed with strong spearmint and peppermint. Very close to a dark iced coffee, almost. Definitely lives up to the name. I myself am not a coffee fan so it doesn't quite do it for me, if you are one however you may sing a different tune. Their other mint stout by Mankato was less heavy on the spearmint and a bit less roast flavored.

Feel: Not as heavy as other stouts but still feeling full and heavy. Not overly noteworthy but not bad by any means.

Overall: I'm not made to be a big fan of this beer, and I prefer the non-mythic stout for aforementioned reasons. But don't let this appear in any way to be a poor review, if you enjoy roasted flavor this will be your jam.

Pours a dark shiny body with a frothy head of 1/2 finger.

Aromas of fresh mint leaves, spearmint, coffee, chocolate bar, and roasted barley.

Flavor is a nice balance of mint gum and dark roasted coffee - much like having a cup after brushing your teeth in the morning. Light residual bitterness from coffee beans, as well as hop, but not intrusive. Hints of chocolate here and there.

Feel is a bit watery for the style, but maintains a medium profile with some exciting carbonation.

Overall, a good stout that accomplishes what it aims. I remember their foil-label mint stout in the bottle to be a better beer overall, but this one is pretty darn tasty as well.
