Some mixed thoughts here.

Not really in the tradition of a festbier which is lighter and less malt assertive...

But I love the maltiness of this beer.....baked breads...toasted breads.....rich breadiness....just love the malt flavor on this..

Pours with a bit of head but that fades immediately and the beer looks flat and tastes lightly carbonated...

But the positive is that accentuates the maltiness and really creates an easy drinking beer for a couple

Still, the lack of carbonation gets to be a bit too much after a couple..

Does not look like a regal fest bier....cloudy....deep gold color

Yeah this has flaws but I like it enough to probably buy it again...curious what this would be with better carbonation...

Pours a light golden hued slight hazed color with an off white head., Smell has bakes bread pale malts caramel and fruit.. Taste follows the nose baked bread and citrus hops caramel in the finish. Loved the 12oz serving.

Pours light copper. Very limited head. Ok lacing.

Mild toasted malt and grassy hop aromas. A bit of bread/dough as well.

A restrained blend of bready sweetness and grassy bitterness on the palate. Less distinct than the best of the style, it nevertheless delivers plenty of balance and a bit of zesty yeast.

Undercarbonated, the brew still is pretty drinkable, although maybe a bit watery.

Mankato's foray into the Marzen style checks most of the boxes, but could use a little more flavor.

Appearance: Pours, a deep, clear amber color with a small off white head. SRM of 14-15. (3.75)

Aroma: Mild bready and toasty aromas. Toasted breadcrumbs. Spiced with brown sugar and cinnamon. (3.75)

Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with more mild bready aromas of toast, cinnamon, brown sugar. Only hints of grass, but not really. Leans sweet on the finish. (3.50)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Low carbonation and flat. (3.25)

Compared to Summit's Oktoberfest Marzen 9/13/20: Pours a similar color with a smaller head.

Overall: This one was darker than I expected. Based on the description on the can, it is a traditional festbier that pours gold. This is not the case. It pours much darker and has darker and toastier notes. Not overwhelmingly malty with an appropriate body. Under-carbonated though. Not bad, but not spectacular for the style. (Final Rating: 3.55)
