12oz can into tulip.
A: Pours a deep amber with a couple fingers of very dense, tall, and greasy off-white head that slowly collapsed into a thick film that left chunks of sticky lace down the glass. Impressive looking actually.
S: Bread crust, caramel, and toast with notes of sticky orange blossom, honey, and orange marmalade.
T: Bread crust and crackery toasty grains dominate the malt profile, and bitter and slightly sweet orange mixed with caramel-like flavors bring up the rear. The finish reminds me of those candied orange pieces in fruit cake, although there is a bit of toast mixed in. Caramel and orange peel linger in the aftertaste.
M: Medium body, smooth, slightly greasy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Splashy and wet but easy to drink.
O: To say this isn’t a good beer is completely unfair, as this is a great beer given the balance and execution. However, the caramel/orange flavor profile is nearly opposite of what I like to drink. I can appreciate this for what it is, and I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered to me, but this was not in line with my personal taste.

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and orange amber in color with a light khaki colored, near two-finger width head. Great retention, eventually breaking down to a thin, consistent layer of suds across the surface. The lacing consists of some broken lines and a few spots.
Smell - Aroma hits on notes of orange, caramel and lesser grain.
Taste - Follows the nose. Orange hop character with deep caramel and a touch of butterscotch upfront and throughout, while an underlying graininess adds a touch of depth. Mild grassy and citrus pith bitterness linger in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with moderate carbonation. Smooth throughout, but not quite the crisp finish found with other lagers.
Overall - I didn't expect much from this, but found this baby to be a pleasant surprise. Strong, well-attuned flavors that compliment each other well. For both Anchor Steam and the SF Giants, this brew is a Splash Hit!
