a neat collaboration with ommegang here, a wheaty saison with a little tangerine peel in it. cool beer, but not as good or refined as i expect beer to be from either one of these breweries independently. this is a really murky and thick looking orange color, frothy headed in the globe but very murky, even for a saison. the aroma here is nice, citrus and nutty wheat malt, with a light rustic funk from the yeast, soft white pepper and hay, and a belgian fruitiness to it, attractive and summery. the flavor isnt quite as good to me, the beer tastes overly estery and feels really full and weighty for the style. there is a nice toasted element to it, and still a freshness with the tangerine, but it doesnt quite have the depth and quality i expected. as belgian tasting as this is, i wanted more of the ommegang side here, the bright carbonation and mature flavor, which this doesnt really have. its nice on a hangover though, sort of gets me back into a beer drinking mood, and is something rather unique, like it or not. cool that these two legendary breweries teamed up, but the beer could have been better...
