750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black with a huge khaki head. Eternal surface of foam.

Smell - Slight cherry. Yeasty. Roasted malt. A little coffee.

Taste - Roasted malt. Cherry tang. A little earthiness. Roasty coffee.

Mouthfeel - High carbonation. Slight tang. Medium body.

Overall - You get the porter, but there's a lot of tang. Nice beer.

Thanks, Chris.

Pouring black with a dense, dark brown head with excellent retention and nice lacing, this looks great. The nose is nice. The rum barrel character is clear with brown sugar, vanilla and a little booze noticeable but also some burnt sugar. This pairs well with the base beer with a creamy, roasty chocolate character. Not as robust as I was expecting, but that's not a problem here. Funky, which was unexpected, along with a little lactic sourness. Pretty solid stuff.

The palate opens sour with a yogurty, lactic sourness, clean and mildly carbonic even, along with a blend of roast and coffee. The rum character isn't as noticeable here, but there is a mildly woody note. Mild sour cherry note is present as well. Once I've had a chance to really let this sink in, the palate clearly isn't up to scratch, lacking in definition, particularly in the mid-palate. Drying and sour on the finish with a lingering sour cherry note along with a light dusting of cocoa, this beer is medium light in body and highly carbonated. Decent.

Shared by Jeffers at FW Bottleworks.

A: Pours black with a copious tan head which lingers long and yields clumpy lace.

N: Roasty and earthy, rustic aged wood, faint dark cherry, trace coffee.

T: Follows nose with a nice dirty/earthy note with a very slight tartness.

M: Moderate body and full carbonation. Finishes roasty with some faintly bitter and earthy malts.

O: Nice to try.

Bottle shared at the brewery. Pours dark brown withman enthusiastic khaki head. Aroma is pleasant with chocolate, cola and mild dark fruit. Flavor is subtle but tasty. Chocolatey porter with tart red fruits midpalate, mild rum influence. Dry and airy on the palate. Carbonation is very high from the bugs, and the spirit has thinned the body.
