Thanks, Sam.
A clear amber with a dense, off-white head with good retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose has a wonderful blend of funk, spice, floral notes and sourness. Sharp lactic sourness with a dash of preserved lemons (is that the SARA house character?), a mildly earthy and dusty, along with a blend of pink peppercorns, hibiscus, white honey and green grape skins. A little vanilla, a little bit of herbal character is present as well - mugwort and heather? Juniper? The palate opens with a wonderful blend of lactic sourness and lemony sourness, along with a funk of preserved lemons. A blend of earth, mushrooms, grape skin tannins and acidic grapes/verjus is present, along with a delicate sweetness. A mild toffee/sherry note is present, along with a fruity rose wine character. The spice notes - white pepper, orange zest, a little clove - are well integrated. Drying, tart on the finish with lingering lactic sourness. Nice beer.
