a tasty and earthy lager here, brewed in collaboration with jackie o, who really seems to be getting out there in the world with these collaborations this year. this is golden and fresh, a little hazy but very light and very active from the tap, with a full inch of white head on top. i smell raw dough, bread or pizza dough yeastiness, minerals, and light citrusy hops, this is definitely of the old school, and i like it not being overly refined despite being so dialed in flavor wise. crackery dry pils type malts with a clean and fresh flavor but very dry, transitioning beautifully into the yeast, which is distinctly of the lager persuasion, very tidy and crisp, but also with a little more character than we normally see in this style, its really a main flavor element, which i really dig here. the hops are nice, fruity and without a lot of bitterness, accenting the more earthy elements of the grain and yeast, but bringing a lot of nuance to the finish and balancing the whole thing out really nicely. a little more sturdy than many, but this is a lager i could drink a ton of and not get bored. i think the craft world has shied away from this sort of thing in the past, but i would love to see more breweries pick it up. this is delicious.
