Ça Va Brasser! Première Saison 2012Ça Va Brasser! Première Saison 2012

Brewed by:
Microbrasserie Charlevoix
Quebec, Canada

Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:

750ml Bottle from Marche Omni QC for 15$

Appearance - Clear gold colour with a large size fizzy off-white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for 3-4 minutes.

Smell - Breads/grains, yeast, lemons, honey, coriander/clove, grapes

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste bread/grains mixed with some lemons. There is also quite a bit of a pepper/yeasty spiciness and some coriander/clove and some green grapes. It ends with a fruit yet dry aftertaste.

Overall - Another solid beer from this brewer. It doesn't taste all that much better than some of their other offering so I question the price point.. but still nice to have tried.

Thanks, Deadbolt82!! From notes before I got this damn cold.

Appearance. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a massive, 4 finger head that has decent retention and leaves some great lacing.

Smell. Some great citrus and floral hops! Belgian yeast, honey and spices. Smells pretty awesome!!

Taste. Nice citrus hops again, grass and belgian yeast with a little honey and sweet belgian spices and perhaps just a bit of pepper. Floral, citrus and some mineral flavours in the lightly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, medium-low carbonation. Slightly sticky.

Overall. A very nice and flavourful saison.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden hay color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of floral hoppy notes with light fruity ester. Taste is a great mix between some floral hops notes with a somewhat dry rustic malt backbone with nice fruity ester. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very solid offering though price tag might be a bit on the high side.

From notes... Another gem I was able to try while in Montreal.

A - Pours a hazy golden orange colour, two fingers of head with solid retention an nice chunky lacing.

S - Spicy citrus, hints of bananas and cloves, musty pepper, wheat and dried greens.

T - Flavour profile is very unique, toasted grains and sour citrus, the peppery spice, cloves, and wheat flavours come through alongside musty grassy hops and a dry vineous finish.

M - Lighter bodied, heavily carbonated and surprisingly dry on the finish.

O - Incredibly unique, flavours that are somewhat reminiscent of a gueze or lambic, and certainly a twist on the Saison style. Worth a try and definitely a memorable brew. If you happen to come across this brew, do yourself a favour and treat yourself.
