Candia Road Brewing Company "Flow N' Glow"
1 PINT can without production codes or freshness dating
$3.75 @ Candia Road Convenience, Manchester, NH
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a two-finger thick head of off-white foam. ... ... ... I just walked away for a few minutes only to find that the head has held up really well. I'm hoping the lacing does the same. In the nose it's certainly one of the "C" hops. It's earthy and spicy, and maybe a little wood-like, over citrus so I'm guessing it is Columbus, I wasn't sure if it would be because there's nothing written on the can. So, it's a pleasant aroma, and pretty bright. There's some malt in there too if you swirl the glass. Nice. On to the flavor... again, very earthy and spicy. There's some grassiness there as well, and some herbs. It's pungent. There's only a little bit of citrus. To me the malt seems very grainy but I'm not sure if that's not the hops influence. I think it is. You could call it biscuity though. It's big enough to stand up to the hops. Or are the hops biig enough to stand up the the malt? It's pretty big, and 6%! Regardless, what I'm saying is that the malt and hops are nicely balanced. It's not too bitter, maybe 50 IBUs, and probably 45, but it finishes dry and hoppy. The citrus and earth lingers for quite some time, so long in fact that you'll probably want to take another sip before it fades. In the mouth it's medium bodied, maybe even medium bodied leaning towards medium full, and crisp. It really conveys the Columbus hops, so if you're not sure of what they really taste and smell like this is a great example. Worth trying.

Can from a Lazy dog, two months old.
Pours a mostly clear light golden color with a decent sized frothy white head that persists. Bready light caramel mostly on the nose with some faint earthy citrus hops. Pretty heavy malt presence is a bit of a shock to my palette. Feels like the craft beer 90's in a can. Pretty tasty overall.
