Belgian brewed with blackberries and currants.
We brewed this Belgian inspired ale with blackberries and currants for our favorite local punk band, The Peekaboos. We've been lucky enough to have The Peekaboos play at a few of our events (Emporium Tap Takeover, and our oyster stout release party). It's a bright, balanced, tart, brew with a slight tint from the fruit. It pairs well with this music video.

Bomber into a snifter. Pours a pinkish-orange (salmon?) with a 1 finger white head of foam. Quickly dissipates into a thick lacing that stuck around for the remainder of the beer. Smells of orange, apricot, plums, grapes, pineapple. Light weight, and very crisp and clean mouthfeel. Sweet taste, yet a bit tart and sour. On the taste, I get grapes, berries, figs, kiwi, and oranges. Slightly doughy aftertaste with lingering sweetness and fruit.
Overall, an awesome beer. I'm glad to have tried it. It's probably the easiest drinking 9.5%'er I've ever had. Very humble and welcoming taste to this. I feel like they brewed this knowing it was going into a bomber; sometimes a bomber is hard to get through by yourself, but this one was an exception. Easy drinking all the way through. Not too strong of a taste, but enough to keep you coming back for another sip. And another. And..

Awesome pink color on this brew. Lighter fruit/citrus taste. Would be a nice summer beer.

22 oz. bottle, with Batch #637 printed on the label. One of the latest creations from Pipeworks, this one a "Belgian style ale brewed with blackberries and red currants". A collaboration effort between Pipeworks and their friends, the band The Peekaboos. 9.50% abv listed on the bottle.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - As expected, it pours a cloudy pinkish body with the consistency of ruby red grapefruit juice, and one finger of frothy white head that fades to some bubbles. Leaves behind some minor scattered lacing. Looks like a nice glass of juice, very nice.
S - Distinct berries are hard to denote, but it definitely has a very earthy, fruity, berry-ish aroma. Juicy, fruity, & floral. Mildly yeasty, with what I would probably describe as 'coriander-like' floral presence. Smells very fresh, fruity, and appealing.
T - Taste follows the nose: the blackberries & the red currants are hard to distinctly denote, but their berry fruit presence is definitely in there. Very juicy, crisp, yeasty, bready, mildly spicy, & floral. It definitely brings to mind a lot of their past 'witbier' offerings.
M - The feel is crisp & juicy. Goes down exceptionally easy for the moderately high abv.
Overall, one of the more fruit-forward of Pipeworks' recent Belgian style efforts, and I definitely appreciate that. One of the more enjoyable of their Belgian inspired efforts that I've had in recent memory. Very nice, and I continue to look forward to what's next.
