22 oz. bottle, Batch #752. Another cocktail inspired ale from Pipeworks, this one an "ale brewed with fresh mint, key lime juice, and coconut". Sounds very unique and delicious.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours pale, but appears a nice juicy golden orange in the glass, not that much unlike an IPA. Two fingers of good creamy off-white head of good thickness and nice staying power for the high abv. Moderate scattered spotty lacing.
S - Mint & coconut doesn't necessarily jump out, but fruity citrus lime juice is very apparent. Mild malt content noticeable underneath. Smells like a nice citrus-imparted pale ale.
T - Very delicious. Again, I'm not pulling out much in the way of mint or coconut, but the lime juice is very citrusy, tart, and authentic. Some earthy rind presence. Good pale bready malt, with a nice almost yeasty finish. The mint maybe becomes a bit more apparent as the beer warms toward room temperature.
M - Feel is smooth, crisp, & juicy. Medium-bodied, easy-drinking, with good carb.
Overall, another excellent creation from Pipeworks, though I suppose the mint and coconut could stand to be a bit more up front. Recommended.

I was also skeptical of this beer going in, but as a cocktail guy I'm a sucker for such inspired beers, especially when pipeworks brews them.
The bitterness is my issue though, and coconut does not equal rum, let alone mojito.
The lime juice shines and is a great addition aromatically and flavore-wise. The 9% abv is also great, as there are no traces of such flavor or feel.
If there were a new version of this beer, I'd challenge them to reduce the bittering hops, or to reduce the malt bill that requires such bittering. Ideally, channel the soda water effect in a mojito--maybe minimal grain, and up the sugar.
Love the concept still, and an interesting experience

Going into this one I thought I would either love it or drain pour it. This one did not see the drain.
A: Poured the perfect beer. 2 finger fluffy head on top of golden orange beer. Solid level of lacing all around.
S: Lime and mint followed by some subtle malt just a hint of coconut on the nose.
T: Plenty of coconut lime and mint. No bitterness and the 9% is non existent.
MF: Smooth and easy drinking. The flavors linger
O: This is like Pina colada beer and I mean that in a very good way. P
