Pours shiny pitch-black color. Thin brown cola like head dissipates quickly leaving little splotches of bubbles on top of the beer.
Aroma has notes of coffee grinds, roasted malts, chocolate, some vanilla, a touch of bourbon and just a hint of berries.
Taste follows the nose with immediate coffee, bourbon and oak notes. Wafting through after that come notes of vanilla, roasted malts, toasted oats, and a slight tart blueberry flavor. The blueberry is not sweet or artificial and is very well integrated. As the beer warms it shines through even better. A bit of heat is noted on the back end lingering in the throat.
Feel is medium bodied for that style. Smooth and very easy drinking - it hides that ABV so well. Mild carbonation.
Overall a very nice beer from Pipeworks - I hope they release this one again. .

Had at The Dojo. Frankly was apprehensive despite good reviews and recommendation by PW guy doing the serving. Oatmeal and blueberries and coffee and bourbon and oak ... and a big heavy ale????? What are the chances this would produce something drinkable... let alone enjoyable?
Well... wow! They did.
Rich and decadent. I’m not a fruit in stout fan but this was amazing. Blueberries were a wonderful enhancer not distractor. No astringency added. Still velvety. Thought the Dark Matter coffee and roast were excellent. 4Roses was a great choice for the wood.
A great Imp OS! Seek it out!

Deep black pour, dark mocha foam. Retention is minimal, leaves no lacing. The aroma is superb. Blueberry jam. Chocolate. Bourbon. Brew is delicious with that same blueberry jam upfront and a lingering coffee. Bourbon and oak slowly hit as the aftertaste hits. Full body, low carbonation, and a dry, balanced finish. Fantastic brew from Pipeworks.

Fall 2017 vintage; drank 1/27/18 @ the McKean estate.
Black appearance.
An even pour yielded a small dark khaki head; minimal lace.
Milk chocolate, blueberry, oak & dark roast coffee notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Milk chocolate & blueberry flavor up front; oak & dark roast coffee bean notes on the finish. As this warmed, mild bourbon notes emerged.
A tasty dessert treat.

Coffee, bourbon, sweet chocolate, vanilla, oats, oak barrel, dark fruit, bright lightly acidic berry, roasty
Very good integration of barrel. The blueberry and coffee goes well together
