Got this bottle earlier this year and finally got around to it tonight - never having had it before. I had the can from Interboro of this and at least this wasn't quite like that as this wasn't quite typical and average. Instead, it had a very roasted and complex nature to it as I had to let it fully warm up. While not a bad trait necessarily, it took quite a while to pinpoint this beer down!
Of course, this poured dark brown with just a hint of garnet around the edges. Not a lot of mocha head to top it off as it didn't last that long. As for the lacing, there wasn't much to be seen as this beer was somewhat thin and left very little residue behind. Dark fruit, wood, booze, and vanilla extract were in the nose as the taste was much more nuanced. Molasses, coffee, and rum came into the mix as this was somewhat heavy in taste for the relatively light amount of body. Somewhat slick with the feel of dark fruit juice, this warmed me up nicely without being overtly powerful, as the barrel aging gave this a smooth tone from start to finish.
The amount of alcohol was spot-on and it was quite difficult to pick out the hops in this. A true American Porter, this combined the best aspects of that with a darker and more complex Stout. Good enough to enjoy year-round, this was one of those beers that had to be fully warmed up to completely appreciate. Nice collaboration on a style that needs a bit more love!

I like the idea of blending the porter with barrel aged beer, keeps the body of the porter more malty with boozey accents. Smells of malt, molasses and bakers chocolate. Taste is chock full of molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, wood and lots of booze on the finish with some anise as well. Very smooth drinker despite all of the booze

Thanks to HIGHPA for this 22 oz. bottle, received as an extra in the Pipeworks Underground Pipeline. Split with my wife.
The pour is dark, with an aroma like I just snorted some cocoa powder.
Panther Like A Panther tastes like a porter. Soft sweet malts, bitter chocolate bark, touch of roast, scorched dark sugars, with a gentle pinky finger insertion of barrel right at the end, subtle enough that I can’t tell if it’s rum or brandy or palinka or moonshine. Bitterness clings at the end, making the feel a bit harsh. Easy to drink, doesn’t seem like any more booze than a regular old porter.
Rather routine effort. Pretty good beer.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 2/12/18. Had 3/3/18.
Pours a dark brown, mostly opaque and oily looking, with a half inch foamy head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, oak, chocolate, smoke, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, light vanilla. The taste is malt- not as roasted, chocolate, coffee, a lot of oak, cocoa, some caramel and vanilla. Some bitterness midway through the finish. Smooth, a good medium body, well carbonated.
Kind of different, there’s a lot of oak, more in the flavor, and it really adds to this. Really good and complex aroma, very good flavor. Well worth a purchase.
