22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 4/7/18.
Pours a dark amber, somewhat opaque, with a short, quickly dissipating head and a few specks that cling to the side. Aromas of rye whiskey, figs, dates, caramel, rye, malt, some cherries, light lemon and bitters, some oak. Boy, this smells great. The taste is rye whiskey, cherries, malt, figs, dates, rye, some caramel and oak, light alcohol. Smooth, a good medium body, appropriately carbonated.
Pretty much like the original blended version, but these barrels are terrific. Overall, great aroma and very good flavor. The body may be a touch thinner, but why quibble. I think any version of this beer is great, so it’s well worth a purchase.
