You know a beer is definitely retired when the last ratings are from two plus years ago. This aged nicely. Dark, light head and lacing. Roasted malt, molasses, and dark fruit aromas. Taste definitely follows suit, a little bit of chocolate and coffee in there for good measure. Medium bodied, mouth watering finish, clean, easy sipping, booze is hidden well for the ABV. Good accompaniment with a quality cigar. Flavorful and bold. All in all, a damn good example of the style.

Had this on 2019-06-11 in Columbia, PA from a 2018 22oz bottle
A - Opaque dark brown with a minimal tan head and no lacing.
S - Molasses, light-medium toasted grain, plum and mild earthy spice. Initially, the aroma is pretty mild but it increased a lot as it warmed.
T - Plum, raisin, caramel, molasses, chocolate, medium toasted grain, earthy spice and perfect balancing bitterness.
M - Medium-heavy body and light-medium carbonation. Some alcohol heat. Mildly sticky at first but dries out pretty well.
O - This is a really good example of a Baltic Porter. The beer was on the cool side when opened but the aroma and flavor blossomed as I siped it.

22oz bottle, dark brown colored body with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is dark grain, burnt caramel, spicy & earthy hops, faint fruitiness. Bold and boozy flavors with nice complexity and balance: brown sugar, molasses, caramel, toffee, bread crust, earthy & spicy hops and yeast, plum and a bit of cherry. Full bodied, smooth carbonation, balanced finish. I nice change of pace from the usual hoppiness from Pipeworks. This is a difficult style to brew, but this was good!

This beer is renewing my love affair with Pipeworks, after some time away from each other. Pillowy soft and chocolatey, I can understand the perspective that it could also come across as an export stout, but underneath that, as it warms, I still get the bitterness and iodine of a Baltic porter. Really enjoyable.

22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 4/3/18. Had 4/20/18.
Pours dark brown, mostly opaque, with a one inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, some caramel, light vanilla and anise, a hint of banana. The taste is similar: roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, some licorice/anise, lighter caramel than the nose, light bubblegum. Some bitterness throughout. Smooth, creamy, a solid medium to full body, well carbonated.
Really liked this. For me, it tastes more like a foreign/export stout- a very good one, than a Baltic porter. Great aroma and flavor. Very enjoyable and well worth a purchase at a good price point.

Enjoyed April 2018. I have not had other beers of this style, definitely more European in style than the more roasty American porters. A good beer, but not one I would necessarily seek out again.
