Imperial Stout with ginger, molasses, vanilla, cacao nib, and baking spices. This molasses-rich Imperial Stout with a warming snap of ginger will take you far away from the grey and cold winter... Inspired by a simple ginger snap cookie, this beer is complex (lots of ingredients) but they all really work together. We're reaching for this beer for dessert.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 2/22/19.

Pours a dark brown, opaque, with a short, quickly dissipating head and some light, foamy lacing. Aromas of ginger- more as it warms, allspice, malt, light molasses and vanilla, a little chocolate, light cola. Really does smell like a cookie. Mostly similar flavors- ginger, allspice, molasses, malt, chocolate, some vanilla, spicy overall. Smooth, a little creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.

The ginger is the star here, followed by the allspice, but all the add- ins manage to come together nicely. This is one of the top beers in the Abduction series, at least to me. Really well executed.

A slick black color, on the pour, with a fast and thin off-white head of bubbles-almost non-existent. A big time nose with huge note of ginger, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice. The first few sips hit on the more subtle side compared to the dominate nose. Chocolate malt hits upfront with a big mix of spices. A nicely smooth flow that finishes slightly bitter. The ginger is big, on the flavors, and seems to dominate the scene. Additional notes of vanilla, brown sugar, maple syrup, allspice, pumpkin, cinnamon, pine, and char. A rather full body with a slick and lush feel that lingers the flavors nicely after every sip.

Overall, this is rather nice. Very flavorful and enjoyable.

Appearance - The beer was black with a modest tan head crowning the glass.

Smell - The nose was fresh sweet coffee and ginger

Taste - Ginger made the first impression with the beer. Ginger & Molasses bring to mind a good ginger snap cookie. The ginger was nicely spicy, capturing the positive aspects of ginger. As the taste progressed, I noted spruce impressions toward the back. The warming bit of spice was pleasant.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation level of on target for the style and allows the taste to linger.

Overall - This is probably a top 3 Abduction for me. The ginger worked so well with the base beer.

Unlike much of the abduction series there is a lot going on here, but like most in the abduction series it works out well. Off the nose I get cinnamon, ginger, molasses, nutmeg, cocoa, vanilla, and graham cracker. Taste is the same plus some allspice, coffee and more molasses. Better treat for nose than mouth. Sneaky robust in flavor, but in feel medium bodied and creamy.

Pours a shiny pitch black color. Thin, weak head dissipates immediately.

Aroma is quite aromatic with an array of notes immediately noticeable when the beer is poured. Notes of ginger, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla.

Taste has notes of cinnamon, spicy ginger, allspice, cocoa, vanilla and molasses. A ton going on here, but its really nice and working together. It is a bit spicy - the ginger reads like a hot pepper would in the stout. Not too sweet at all and the spicy ginger balances any sweetness out. the flavors really blossom as the beer warms. This one seems like its best to drink at room temperature.

Feel is light to medium bodied. Smooth with a semi-dry finish.

Overall a very nice addition to the Abduction series of stouts. This beer reminded me of Sweetzel's spiced wafers - if you have had or know what those are, thats exactly what this beer is.
