Collaboration with Rhinegeist Brewery
We collaborated with our friends at Rhinegeist Brewery in Ohio to bring you part 2 of our 2 part collabo: ASTRO DWARF! This is a textured, soft, pale ale (some might even say ultra hazy...) with lots of juicy tropical galaxy, mosaic, and hallertau blanc hops. Some may remember Astro Giant, the first part of the collaboration with Rhinegeist. Astro Giant was a double IPA, and this is the lover abv, summer crusher option.
We're picking up notes of white grapes, papaya, soursop, and maybe even (brace for an oddly specific and very millennial reference) Capri Sun Coastal Coolers. All around, it's a great beer and we're excited to offer this collaboration.

16oz can, date stamped 06/06/2019. Thanks to Derek for sharing his 4 pack with me. Densely opaque pale yellow body has a towering frothy head that leaves a mess of lacing on the glass as it slowly falls. Zesty aroma of concentrated hops provides wafts of grass, citrus, tropical fruit, melon, grape, lemon-lime, and pine. Bold in flavor but not in bitterness with notes of white grape, grapefruit, grass, guava, melon, and pine. Full body, ample carbonation, zesty finish. Unique and very flavorful brew!

Deliciousness in a glass. Fuller mouthfeel and more flavor going on than I expected for a beer labeled a pale ale. The unique addition of Hallertau Blanc for this style adds a white wine element to the pineapple orange papaya juice from the other hops. This beer should be on every brunch menu in America.

16oz can. Poured out a thick, hazy, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of orange, mango and guava. Sweet tropical fruitiness with a subtle bitterness.

Pipeworks' oat NEIPAs -- particularly those in the motion/sound/light/velocity series -- have routinely been second-tier for beers in Chicagoland, but this is one of the better ones. The color/look is still on the muddy side (as opposed to the bright, pulpy look I prefer), but this one has an improved mouthfeel and the maltiness isn't so damp. Would buy this again.

Pours a light golden color. Completely opaque and hazy. Looks like a NE style IPA - wasn't expecting that, but it does. Head is a white fuzzy cap that dissipates quickly.
Aroma has light fruity notes of mango, peach, apricot and Mandarin orange. A cracker malt backbone is noted on the aroma.
Taste follows the nose with notes of peach, apricot, mango, mandarin orange and a strong green hop flavor. Bitterness is pronounced and lingers on the back end. Some grassy hop notes are present in the finish.
Feel is medium bodied. Vibrant fizzy carbonation. Prickly. Semi-dry finish.
Overall its an enjoyable IPA.

Canned 6/14/19 (from what I can tell since the stamp is hard to read). Stoked to pick up some Pipeworks whilst visiting family in Colorado
L: Hazy vibrant yellow in appearance with zero transparency. A slow pour yielded about 2 fingers of head that retained quite nicely. Heaps of residual lacing coats the glass. Look-wise, I am loving it.
S: White wine, grapefruit, lemon, mango, tangerine and papaya all present on the nose. Hop presence is earthy with hints of grass and mild herbal properties. Galaxy dominates the aroma, making me yearn for a sip.
T: Honestly, I am confused with the ratings. The beer embodies the juice flavor from new-age offerings while offering a bitter hoppy and semi-dank finish. Fruits that stand out are mango, pineapple, papaya, apricot, orange, grapefruit and lemon, with bubble gum at the finish alongside a lemongrassy after taste.
F: Medium in body and in weight, with a nice smooth and borderline creamy feel. Moderate to high carbonation, which I think is preferable because without it, it might be too full. Zero booze presence with a nice touch of bitterness.
O: I have said it before and I'll say it again. I am a huge fan of these new-age pale ales. At 6%, being an "apa" is debatable, but there is no doubt it is delicious. Fans of southern hemisphere hops would/should enjoy this. I would drink again and I am very glad to try. Cheers!

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy, off-white, pale yellow color. One of the most pale and hazy beers I've seen. A strong white head.
Aroma: Strong aromas of pineapple and milk. Supporting aromas of peach, citrus, floral, and mint or wood.
Flavor: Tongue follows the nose. Tons of creamy pineapple. Backed by peach. A strong milky oat malt profile. There is a decent amount of florality and pine bitterness on the back end and finishes dry.
Feel: Very creamy from the oats, but lighter bodied overall and rather crisp. A piney bitter astringency on the tongue.
Overall: A pretty good dry-hopped, hazy pale ale. Incredibly creamy. Nice flavors and the alcohol and body are rather attenuated. Slightly dryer and more bitter than most dry-hopped pale ales. Yet, it captures the pineapple and peach flavors nicely with a rounded finish.
