Taste: smokey, Cherry wood, malty, salty, sausage meat, tobacco, but not oily or heavy. Smoked peat woody, malty nose. Dark mahogany hue, mostly clear, tan head and lacy lattice. Medium to full body. Balanced

16oz can, date stamped 10/29/19. Brown colored beer with slight reddish hues when held to light; tall foamy tan head hold good retention. Smoked malt and grain aroma. Flavors are smoky with notes of hickory, toasty grain, caramel, brown sugar, and earthy/spicy hops. Medium body, quite smooth and well balanced with smoke lingering. This was a good stab at a Rauchbier, and even though I have no complaints, I feel there are better options out there. I do have to say that I love that Pipeworks keeps coming out with all these classic German styles!!

Pours a very nice rusty brown with a two finger lace. Smells of break with a slight smokey aroma and of alcohol. Smoke flavor hits first, them breads. Mouthfeel is slightly thinner than I would like but is right there. This is a wonderful beer. Smoke flavor is there but is not overdone at all and in no way overshadows this. A definite try on any German beer drinkers list.

Appearance - From the can into a pilsner glass, the beer poured a rusty brown color with visible carbonation and an off-white head.
Smell - Sweet hickory smoke is evident in the nose. From the nose, it was evident this would be a treat.
Taste - At first, the sweet hickory smoke hits. There was just a hint of acidity from the smoke. In the broader scope, this is little bitterness. The sweetness was propped up by a dry bread backbone.
Mouthfeel - The one fault in the beer is that it is a touch too thin. I would loved for this to linger like a German Rauchbier.
Overall - It is almost hard to believe this is a domestic beer, and not brewed in Germany. If rated to style, this is a top of the line beer. If you are not rating your beer to style, delete your review.
