Imperial Milk Stout with Lactose, cacao nibs, vanilla, pretzels, and sea salt.
We brewed this beer with pounds of pretzels in the mash, chocolate malts, and a pinch of salt to bring home that chocolatey, salty sweet combo we love about chocolate covered pretzels. We weren't completely sure how much pretzel character we were going to get by adding the pretzels to the mash, but we were very pleasantly surprised it totally comes through!

Always up for a Pipeworks beer & found this lonely 16 oz. can hanging out in a singles section recently. Split with my wife watching MNF.
The pour is black & lively. The nose is chocolate & roast – far too standard for a beer with the ribald descriptors this one has on the can.
Got Ya Covered gets a ‘barely meets expectations’ on its annual review. Taste is mostly your standard creamy milk stout (infused with booze) & a soothing shot of vanilla. Touch of salt & breadiness (the pretzels?) mid-palate, with a roasty finish. Too sweet to drink even a full can.
The intent isn’t obvious unless you read the can & gimmick beers should slap you in the face with what they’re attempting. This is more of an affectionate pat. Pretty good brew, expectations aside.

First pour was surprisingly dark and thick (even for the style) and had minimal head, which was initially disappointing. The smell was not very prominent, far less than most of the Goose Island Stouts that I compared this too, again disappointing.
Tasting the beer was really amazing and far surpassed my expectations. A wonderfully thick mouthful of sweet delicious stout. A great balance of sweet and bitter, BETTER that the Goose Island Bourbon County Stouts due the that sweet/bitter balance. There I said it! I have never drank a bourbon county stout and wanted another. I love them, but just too sweet and syrupy. This one, I want another. Pipeworks is my favorite brewery based on their lager, Oktoberfest, and now this delicious and unique stout.

Maybe I have COVID and my tastebuds have gone, but I didn't sense the overwhelming salt that other drinkers got. It was a little more sweet than I like in a milk stout.

Canned 10/24/19; drank 4/9/20 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small dark tan head; almost no lace.
Sweet chocolate, sea salt & vanilla extract notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Sweet chocolate syrup & sea salt flavors up front; vanilla extract & faint booze heat on the finish.
A touch too close to cloying. Not great.

GYC is a dark chocolate imperial milk stout. The smell is intense, reminiscent of Hershey's syrup. The beer, however, isn't overly sweet and let's the chocolate run the show.
This beer was fantastic and I was surprised because I'm not a huge fan of Pipeworks' stout offerings. The salt really brings it home, creating a true chocolate covered pretzel experience.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, pretzels, caramel and toffee. Sweet chocolate taste with some salty pretzel taste.

Lighter black body with brown foam head that has a pinkish tint to it. Smells chocolaty with lots of sea salt, some light vanilla, and light roast coffee. Taste has salt, chocolate, vanilla, pretzel, and lactose as advertised, but they are just pieces, there is no defining whole. Roasted light coffee grounds, slight soil in there too. Feel is salty, very malty, and leaks booze at bit. This one missed the mark for me

16oz can, date stamped 10/24/19. Black bodied stout with a foamy brown head. Dark chocolate, roasted barley, and mild earthy hops for aroma. Pretzels come through in the flavor, but it is still dark cocoa and roasted barley dominant; caramel, mild fruity esters, booze, espresso, vanilla, lactose, and earthy hops round out the flavors. Full and creamy body, ample carbonation, balanced finish. This was a fun one to try, and I think it works pretty well.

16 oz can into chalice. Dated 10/24/19.
Look is dark brown chocolate. Smell is coffee and chocolate. Taste follows nose with a bit too much coffee taste for a milk stout,in my opinion. Feel is medium creamy. Overall ok but I expected more.

Pours a shiny pitch black color. One and a half finger tan colored head dissipates pretty quickly leaving no residual foam on top of the beer. Appears thick and viscous.
Aroma has notes of dark roasted malts, chocolate, pretzels and salt. Its not as sweets I anticipated it being - the roasted malts actually are the predominant notes on the nose.
Taste follows the nose with notes of roasted malts, milk chocolate, and some light salty notes. Its pretty sweet with strong notes of milk chocolate. Somewhat lightly bitter from the roasted malts. Definite alcohol burn comes through here especially as it warms.
Feel is noticeable first and foremost for the vibrant carbonation. Its lively and spritzy. Otherwise its a medium bodied stout. Rather viscous smooth and slick.
Overall a really nice stout - as sweet pastry stouts go, this one was really well done and enjoyable.
