Dark brown brew with a yellow head. Very appealing melding of toasted malt and coffee in the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweet malt, coffee, and toasty notes on the palate. Tasty.

$ 4.00 (Including tax)/16 oz can ($ 0.250/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Purchased 6/3/20. Reviewed 8/21/20.
Stamped on bottom rim of can “04/03/20”. In reefer at store. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Middle amber (SRM 12 - 15), slight chill haze. The haze is absent in the second pour.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. When held to direct light, a fine precipitate is seen.
Head – Large (Maximum seven cm, aggressive center pour), dark tan, frothy and low density, average retention, diminishing to a three to eight mm undulating crown and a complete thin cap. Pieces of froth remain on the sides of the glass.
Lacing – Fair. Narrow band of mostly tiny to small bubbles. See also above.
Aroma – 4 – When the top is popped, a strong smell of coffee pervades the room. No hops, no malt, no yeast. When the coffee weakens by the second pour, a bit of graininess sneaks out.
Flavor – 4 – Coffee with a bit of caramel on the aftertaste. Not bitter but slightly sweet. No hops, no malt, no yeast. No alcohol (6 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No diacetyl or dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 4 – Medium, approaching creamy, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25. If all brown ales tasted this good, they would move from the near bottom to the higher ranks of my favorites.

16oz can, date stamped 04/03/20. Brown colored body with a tan colored head that spatters the glass with lacing as it fades. Coffee aroma with toasted dark grain. Nice flavors of light roast coffee, toasty grain, brown sugar, caramel, and modest earthy hop bitterness. Medium body, ample carbonation, balanced finish. A nice coffee'd brown ale.
