Oat Ale with pumpkin puree, Dark Matter coffee, milk sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin spices. Basically, if you like PSLs a latte, this is a beer for you (puns intended, friends!) We took a holistic approach to bringing the flavors of a pumpkin spice latte to a beer.

We started with a malt base that features creamy oats, and added pounds and pounds of pumpkin puree to the mash. Then we added milk sugar, vanilla, and coffee from Dark Matter Coffee. To bring it all together, we added a blend of high quality baking spices (clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg) sourced from Epic Spices. Put on your flannel, this beer completes the season.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sticky patches of lace on the glass. It smelled of cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and pumpkin. Sweet pumpkin, with spices and a smooth finish.

16oz draft pour into a pint glass shows a cloudy, yellow-gold body and briefly floats a 1/4" head of mixed white bubbles falling to a ring and leaving the glass clean behind.

Aroma is strong dark coffee and ash...what, really. Yes. Really. I don't drink coffee and am quite sensitive to the aroma. I do smoke cigars, so I am familiar with that flavor, but I prefer it in barrel aged beers.

Flavor is strong black coffee joined by dirt and lots of sugary 'fall' spices.

LOTS of sugary spices.

Mouthfeel is almost creamy, medium, leaning full, and nearly slick, but clears the palate cleanly.

Overall exactly what I think they were going for. Sweet sugary cold brew coffee.
Just not for me.

Appearance: Pours a pale bronze body with some suspended particulates underneath a very, very slim whitish head.

Smell: Oh, geez! Incredibly strong, absolutely repellent chopper green pepper aroma. Horrendous!

Taste: Undrinkable. Retch-worthy green pepper. Perhaps some hints of sweetness, spice, but you reflexively start sipping smaller and smaller and smaller, because you know how horrendous the beer is.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light. Medium-low.

Overall: Congrats, Pipeworks! Worst beer I've had in a long, long while. I would rather contract gonorrhea than finish this beer.

Pours a light orange/amber color, slightly hazy with a light one finger head which leaves little to no lacing. Aroma is pumpkin and cloves. Taste is light, fairly pumpkin but could be more so. If there's coffee in here, which the can says is, I am unable to detect it. Some spicing is evident, though mostly cloves and a very slight tang of ginger at the near end of the profile.

Definitely a great beer for the season!!

It is a great hue of golden brown with very little head. The aroma is light, but distinct of pumpkin and cinnamon. I'm impressed with the taste as it is what I was hoping it would be. Obviously theres pumpkin and cinnamon, but I also taste nutmeg, caramel, and vanilla undertones that really bring this to life. The taste stays around for a bit and is the right amount of sweet.

I really enjoyed this and wouldn't be afraid to recommend this to someone looking to be excited about fall.

Look: Pours an opaque orange with a thin beige head that faded quickly. Carbonation seems light.

Smell: Toasted coffee grounds, pumpkin, nutmeg. Also getting hints of cinnamon.

Taste: The coffee and pumpkin come through immediately in a weirdly pleasant combo. Also getting other spices - cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg.

Feel: Thin body, light carbonation. Would have liked more carbonation but this is still really good and pleasant to drink. Obviously very festive for the fall.

Overall: Good pickup, Pipeworks continues to deliver good stuff consistently.

Pours a mostly clear orange-gold color. However there is a substantial amount of sediment suspended. Thin, weak, fleeting head forms on the beer but ultimately disappears almost immediately.

Aroma has notes of Folgers coffee, vanilla, creme, a touch of pumpkin spices and some light pumpkin notes. The coffee is a bit harsh and stale with some green pepper notes on the nose. Not the best coffee. The pumpkin spices are more generic and subtle - I am not getting much from the individual spices. the pumpkin is subtle as well.

Taste is pretty rough. So, the coffee has that harsh, stale, green pepper note. Its rather unpleasant especially since it dominates the flavor profile. Im struggling to believe this is dark matter coffee - its usually much better than this. However once you get past that coffee, it does improve. The vanilla and lactose comes through nicely and compliments what they are going for quite nicely. Strong pumpkin spice notes come through on the back end again giving the impression of a PSL. Its an interesting beer and one that I think I would enjoy more had the coffee beer better.

Feel is light to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation.

Overall this one is interesting - I don't regret buying the single can, but I'm also very glad I bought a single can. Doubt I will ever feel the urge to revisit this one.

Look: It pours amber and cloudy with a white head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: It has coffee aromas with a bit of sweetness. There is slight nut and a touch of cinnamon as well.

Taste: It has some coffee, cinnamon and nut flavors. There is also a bit of sweetness. There are touches of pumpkin. The flavors blend and get lost as opposed to messing well together.

Feel: It has a medium body and the finish is on the sweet side.

Overall, the flavors just don't develop well enough to create complexity and the sweetness is artificial in the finish.

Where is the pumpkin spice? This is dry coffee with a lingering sour note. So many more appropriate and better options in the flooded pumpkin beer market. This just isn't good.

Delicious and very pumpkin spicy.. the coffee comes through pretty strong but not overwhelming. The cold coffee taste hangs around for a while but it’s not a bad thing. I really enjoyed this beer, especially in cold weather.
