Collaboration with Run The Jewels. Hazy IPA with Galaxy and Sabro Hops. Yes, RUN THE JEWELS! This is our official collaboration with the hip-hop super duo El-P and Killer Mike in honor of their new single on the soundtrack of Cyberpunk 2077, No Save Point. RTJ kicked off a "Craft Beer World Tour" with 13 breweries internationally... each brewery put their own spin on a base recipe almost like guests artists collaborate on tracks of an album. Our contribution was this incredibly tropical, juicy hazy IPA hopped with Galaxy and Sabro hops. The Galaxy brings passionfruit and pineapple aromas while Sabro swoops in with freshly cracked coconut flavor. This beer is a dream if you've been trapped in Night City...

Pours a light pale straw yellow color. Completely opaque and matte in color. Full 3 finger head forms, them dissipates leaving just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of peach, mango, papaya, and coconut with a green grassy hops note on the back end.

Taste follows the nose with some light notes of coconut, mango, peach, apricot, giving way to a green grassy hop note on the back end. The flavors are somewhat "watery" for lack of a better term? Feel is light, crisp, bright carbonation. Mild bitterness on the finish.

Overall its a solid IPA. Not sure I love the galaxy/sabro mix, but the IPA itself is decent.

L: hazy pale yellow body; foamy off-white head holds good retention
S: very tropical aromatics; fresh pineapple, passion fruit, vanilla, cream
T: juicy tropical fruit/tropical punch: grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, creamy lactose, lemon-lime, vanilla
F: full body, very creamy, slightly resinous, sweeter finish
O: good tropical fruit flavors with this one; correct me if I’m wrong, but there does seem to be lactose...although I don’t see any record of it (?)

I would crawl over crushed glass for a pint of this stuff. I might trade away my lovely, cherished yellow lab for a lifetime supply. This is good, good beer.

Appearance: Poured into an imperial pint glass. Quite hazy, light amber. Modest head which dissipates fairly quickly. Looks thick. Light lacing on the glass as I work my way through the beer.

Aroma: Not that pronounced. I get fruity, bubble gum, caramel, malty, yeasty.

Mouthfeel: Lighter than the thick appearance would suggest. Modest carbonation. Pleasant. Not thin, not syrupy but still kinda chewy. Soft.

Taste: I never feel competent in coming up with flavor descriptors. I get a very satisfying and enjoyable balance of tropical fruit, pineapple, apple, pear--that sort of thing--maybe with a touch of lemon. But all of that is really very nicely cut with a sharp tang of pine, pine needles on a forest floor. The beer seems to coat the tongue more than is the case for many beers--not everyone will like this, perhaps. But there is an aftertaste that I really notice and enjoy. Ebullient and flavorful burps occur, which adds to the fun.

Overall: You have to be a fan of the hazy NEIPA style to like this one. I am such a fan and this may be my new reference point for this kind of beer. Other beers that I sort of group in this category are smuttynose finestkind (maybe not so hazy), hazy little thing, voodoo ranger, etc. Pipeworks rarely disappoints and I think this beer moves to the head of the class in this category, in my opinion. Great stuff, if you can find it.

Fresh pint can direct from the Dojo. Pours as thick as any of PW's oat IPAs (Velocity of Light, Speed of Sound, etc.), but is not quite as opaque in the glass. Full finger of head with good retention. Smells a bit grassy and sharp, as if it were foreshadowing some hop burn, but that never arrives on the tongue; it drinks quite smooth. Other aromas of pineapple, mandarin orange, and very light vanilla. Quite fruity on the palate, pineapple, peach, and papaya. The hop burn I was expecting doesn't materialize, but it does lend a moderate bitterness near the finish, which I perceive as a good balance to the rest of the flavor profile but some folks may not want from their NEIPAs.

Good to see another collaboration between PW and Run the Jewels.
