Collaboration with Old Irving Brewing

A Hazy Double IPA with Mosaic hops, Cryo Mosaic hops, lactose, vanilla, raspberries, and blueberries. Finnnallly, we collaborated with a buds in the suds, Old Irving Brewing! We both joined forces to brew this beer that's bursting with berry juice and swirls of berry-forward Mosaic hops. We also added vanilla bean - yes to an IPA - to soften and round the whole beer out. It's...it's...like a theme park featuring roving unicorn skeletons in your mouth!

Pours a rather sludgy in appearance as you can see that there is actual fruit in this and its suspended in the beer. It is completely opaque, and surprisingly, a reddish purple color - the color of blueberries. This, pink sudsy head forms on the beer then dissipates partially but not completely leaving a ring of thick foam along the outside of the top of beer.

Aroma has notes of blueberries, raspberries, vanilla, dominate the aroma. There is a definite lactose sweetness coming through on the nose. There are some generic hop notes but mostly the mosaic really plays into the overall berry character on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with lots of blueberries and raspberries up front giving way to the mosaic hop notes on the back end providing a slight hoppy bitterness. The lactose and vanilla provide a moderate sweetness to the overall flavor profile. There is a certain tartness to this beer likely from the raspberries.

Feel is medium to fuller bodied. Smooth, gentle carbonation.

Overall this comes across more as a sour IPA than a NE style IPA - but I really think that is just how the berries present with the lactose in this beer. Overall it was enjoyable, but not a beer I would pick up again.

Pours a cloudy dark purple with a half-finger of pinkish head. Prominent blueberry on the nose, a bit grassy, light addition of raspberry, white peach and yogurt on the palate.

procured the illustrative 4-pak on the north shore within a non-descript liquor shanty, tucked and smoldering buttressed by gaggles of desperate multi-million dollar multi-generational property shins protected and preserved by trust-fund, ratio centric bobby pinned yellowed and mustard tangetically skewed bullseyes. pours a rocky bruised purple eye-slammed hue, minimized aroma. by comparison to maplewood shakey lactose series, this brand leaves much less salinic trestle. artwork relieves but adds nil to the fluid, decent eye candy irrelevant of the the swill. a keeper, worthy of a curb sitting paper bag session.
