Imperial Milk Stout with maple syrup, coffee from Dark Matter Coffee, fenugreek, vanilla, lactose, and cacao nibs.
This is Your Brain on Brunch...with Coffee. This Imperial Stout has major swirls of pancake breakfast vibes thanks to maple syrup and the natural mapley flavor of fenugreek spice. This is a new spin on Your Brain on Brunch, our straight maple stout - this time we added roasty Unicorn Blood coffee from Dark Matter. Overall, this beer is incredibly rich. It's breakfast for dessert.

Your Brain on Brunch with Coffee from Pipeworks Brewing. Purchased 7/10/21 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA for $9 (Including tax)/16 oz can ($ 0.562/oz). In reefer at store. Stored at home at 40 degrees. Reviewed 10/10/21. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom rim “PKGD 1/20/21”. Served at 55.2 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 61.3 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Brown (SRM 20), nearly opaque.
Body – Deep Brown (SRM 30), opaque. When rear-lite, same except some light penetrates at the extreme edges.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.6 cm, aggressive center pour), brown with caramel, high density but fizzy, short retention, diminishing to a 0.5 mm bubble ring and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4.25 – Initially like pancakes with maple syrup and butter, no hops, no malt, no yeast, no coffee.
Flavor – 4.25 – Flavor follows nose - no yeast, no malt, no hops, lightly sweet. However, there is a slight roasted coffee flavor. No direct ethanol (10 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. Moderate gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Full, creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Definitely pancakes with butter and maple syrup on the nose and tongue, with coffee eventually making its presence known. Lactose builds the body without contributing much other than some sweetness. No vanilla found. Since fenugreek adds a maple syrup flavor, it seems redundant.

L- pitch black, no head
S- sweet coffee, maple syrup, vanilla, not too aggressive/obnoxious
T- follows the nose, sweet maple soaked coffee beans up front, vanilla sweet finish, decent roast, not cloyingly sweet
F- medium mouthfeel, oily slick, coats the tongue nicely
O- an impressive imperial milk stout with the aforementioned adjuncts, would purchase again

Pours black. Aroma is very sweet maple, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Taset is also very sweet and a complex combination of the nose and dominated by the maple and coffee with constant presence of the vanilla and chocolate. Medium feel though iexpected and would have like a thicker mouthfeel. Not for those who do not like sweet tasting stouts. Incredible stout.

Brownish black with a fat finger of brown foam. This is just like the original but with coffee. Huge maple (enhanced by fenugreek) with coffee, fudge and vanilla accent in both smell and taste. Feel seems to not be as thick as the orignal, but that's not saying much, viscous almost syrupy, coffee cuts in nicely, rich, very sticky. If you liked the original and like coffee you will like this, amazing how close they are.
