6/16/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) - Can Notes: Four pack purchased refrigerated from Pipeworks Dojo on 6/14/24 for $5.51. 16 oz canned 3/8/24 @ 10:24:13 AM. 5.3% ABV. El Dorado Hopped Witbier. Label art by Jonathan Eichholz. 2024 Pipeworks Brewing Company, Brewed and Canned in Chicago, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured about 12 oz of the can into a tall tulip glass. Tan golden orange colored cloudy base, generous creamy bubbly white lacing subsides after a couple minutes leaving soapy lacing and generous creamy lacing over the base. 4.25
Aroma: Traditional Witbier aromas of citrus and light coriander, strong and very enticing. 4.25
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, though citrus is the star here backed by pineapple, the El Dorado hops noticeable and working well with the wheat base. Coriander is awol, as are any other competing flavors. 4.0
Mouthfeel: Gentle carbonation sustained throughout, light, sweet but not cloying. Drinks light, below BV level, light crisp clean body. Citrus orange tic tac finish. 4.0
Overall: This is a solid offering. Traditionalists may balk at the departure from traditional Witbier hop and taste profile, but this is a very enjoyable beer featuring a hop I really like well. This reminds me of a Oberon, though I'm digging this more. Well done Pipeworks! 4.25
