6/15/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) - Can Notes: Four pack purchased refrigerated from Pipeworks Dojo on 6/14/24 for $5.51. 16 oz canned 3/27/24 @ 9:48:34 AM. 5.2% ABV. Tamarind Witbier Style Ale. Label art by Beejay Olson. 2024 Pipeworks Brewing Company, Brewed and Canned in Chicago, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured about 12 oz of the can into a tall tulip glass. Tan orange juice colored cloudy base, generous creamy bubbly white lacing subsides after a couple minutes leaving minimal lacing and a cream cover over the base. 4.0
Aroma: Traditional Witbier aromas of citrus and coriander. Not familiar yet with the flavor of tamarind, but the two flavors noted above are the extent after a few attempts. Enjoying. 3.75
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, with a nice blend of the wheat base with orange and coriander flavors. A bit broader complementary flavors, with peach perhaps via the salesman's suggestion of tamarind's flavor profile. I'm enjoying. 3.75
Mouthfeel: Gentle carbonation sustained throughout, light, edges sweet but not cloying, some sourness as well. Drinks at ABV level, light to medium body, sweetness adds to perceived depth. Enjoying the citrus finish. 4.25
Overall: I enjoy the occasional Witbier, and this one exceeds expectations. Will compare against the El Dorado non tamarind version tomorrow, but glad I took a chance on this offering, and will enjoy the remaining three over the approaching hot Summer days. Another winner from Pipeworks! 4.0
