Bought a bomber at the Beer Cellar in Waterbury, because why not.
Well, actually, it was because the label on this one got torn. It just says "am Ale." I honestly thought it was a reference to that old SNL skit "A.M. Ale." It's not.
Pours rather dark for an English pale, a dark enough brown that when I poured it I thought maybe it was a porter.
Smells quite faint and malty, which is absolutely appropriate for the style but still a wee bit bland.
Tastes firmer, thankfully, with a pronounced--but not showy--nobel hop finish. Toasted biscuits up front, hay and yeast in the middle, and a finish of hops.
Like a more robust Bass. Quite well brewed, but not the style of most Americans.

22oz brown bottle. No freshness date.
Served in an Allagash goblet.
Pours a deep tannish/amber color with a medium-sized off-white head and some patchy lacing.
The 1st smell is perfumy flowers, followed by fruit cup. Smells of citrus and barn wood and hay emerge, and later into the glass, a doughy malty smell rolls in.
The flavors mirror the smells closely. There's an odd taste of tart pears (not bad...just odd)
This is a drinkable ale, but in no way does this fit an English Pale Ale profile.
It may be rated higher if fit some style profile (any style will do), or at least carved some unique take on a style.

Nice medium amber color with good head formation but quick dissipation. Nose is sweet and malty almost Belgian-esque. Very malty ale with a background of bittering hop. At first I wasn't sure about this one but as I acclimate to it it is starting to grow on me. Good, solid English style malty ale.
