This beer is very charming and versatile. It's something I would drink on a cozy night in in the colder months, or something I would serve with cheese (such as a sharp cheddar) for entertaining guests. I believe it would pair nicely with a steak.

Look: I poured it into a pilsner, and its head was a light caramel color, about a finger and a half. The color is a bold dark red/amber, and it is quite hazy. Almost no lacing.

Nose: Quite malty. I detected a lot of caramel, vanilla, malt, and a woody undertone.

Taste: Smooth and sweet. Not much bitterness, and the alcohol taste is low. Very drinkable. I taste a bright, warm caramel and something woody--possibly oak. Faint floral hops supplement the malt quite well, and make up most of the aftertaste, which is not extremely strong.

Feel: Very creamy and smooth. Medium bubbles, medium body.

I picked up a 22oz bottle of this (for $5.00) at The Crop Bistro during a visit last week with Alewife. Consuming today out in The 'Zebo....

Sampling from a Sammy perfect pint glass. It's a clear brew, and has a lovely amber/copper color. Carbo is plentiful, with a plethora (a fancy word for "shitload", btw) of minute bubbles heading surfacewards rapidly. The head is just a thin, fine layer of tight, tan bubbles. It isn't leaving much in the way of lacing, though. Aroma is nice, with some malty caramel and nutty notes present. I like the mouthfeel, as it is somewhat creamily smooth going down with a medium body.

Flavor is lightly sweet, with a bit more caramel and some grainy, toasty malt hitting the palate. The malts are offset well by noticeable level of floral hoppage. Like with the aroma, there is a smidge of a nutty character here. The ABV is well hidden in this one, as it goes down quite readily. Not a world-beater by any means, but a tasty brew nonetheless. Prosit!!

Slightly floral nose. Rich, hearty flavor. Nice lively mouthfeel; carbonation opens it up. Warming. Something… syrupy in there? Comes through strongest on the finish. Still trying to place it. Clove… maybe? Maybe.

22oz bottle purchased as a single from Winooski Beverage.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" beige head over the slightly cloudy brown brew. Headlasts well, with leggy lasting lace. Aroma is sedate, malty yet balanced.

Taste starts with nutty grains, somewhat fruity in the middle, and closes pretty balanced, albeit with a bit of a tannic tinge. Smooth mouthfeel, and drinkability is reasonably good. Not my fave of theirs, but to be fair, this one has been out for a while.
