This pours a dark amber copper color in the big Affligem chalice with a modest sudsy cap. Quite spritzy on the tongue and a rather sharp mouthfeel. The aroma is a fetching citrus hoppiness.

This starts out with some of the browned biscuit taste but it's quickly submerged in a lot of bitter hops. Some malty substance with a bare trace of sweetness. The overall sensation is a tannic bitterness with blackberry seeds, Herbal tea aftertaste with that woodiness that sets your teeth on edge. The label mentions Clementine juice plus Citra, Amarillo, and Apollo hops, and rates the IBUs at 40.

I don't find this very drinkable. The citrus juice and all the hops make for too much acidity and bitterness, like excess peeling and pith. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market - Shoreline in north Seattle.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a rich coppery amber with a two finger light tan head that continues to grow after pouring with great retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, biscuit malt and light orange family citrus. Flavor is orange citrus and rind, mild biscuit malt, citrus hops, with an interesting sweet/mildly sour balance to the taste. Finishes light and citrus forward, with orange, tangerine and orange rind. Light to medium bodied. A refreshing citrus forward pale ale with bitterness both from citrus hops and orange rind. The clementine juice covers most of the citrus hops in the taste, although it was dominant in the aroma. A nice citrusy take on the pale ale profile and I liked the unusual trade off between sweet and lightly sour flavors. Biscuit malt takes a back seat, but supports the citrus well. Off-beat but fun to drink.
