Amber color with a touch of amber, and a thin mustache of foam in the Gulpener tulip. Zero lacing but quite fizzy on the tongue. Light body.

Alluring aroma of ripe papaya, rather than what I usually think of as mango in the fruity hoop brews. Hugely aromatic. Rather bitter, but a toasty malt taste comes through as you sip. The malty sweetness is more pronounced in this moderate alcohol brew.

Quite sharpish, and thin, but refreshingly tangy and clean. Wonderful hoppy nose as you sip. Very drinkable and makes a tasty bitter brew. I'd like to try this one on tap. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in the Walingford neighborhood.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a fine, slightly off-white head with great retention and sheets of lacing. Great tropical fruit hops and juice in the aroma, as advertised in the name. Light biscuit malt and hints of citrus round out a nice aroma. Flavor is resiny pine and citrus hops, biscuit, slightly bready malt, milder tropical fruit than the aroma. Flavor dries out in the finish, leaving a long lingering resinous hop aftertaste. Really excellent creamy body, feels nice. A hop driven IPA that has great malt body, but little malt flavor, leaving the hops somewhat stark on the tongue. There are very interesting fruit and hop flavors here and a satisfying finish, but I found myself hoping for more malt balance in the flavor. It may be just my tastes, but a bit of caramel here could have made this shine. The malt gave it more of a continental feel, but with a healthy Northwest hop bitterness. Worth trying for the aroma alone. Should be served with an umbrella.
