the most clear of all the hoppy beers we drank in here, not perfectly so, but definitely looks more in the west coast tradition. its as dramatically hopped as the others on the list, but its also to me, by far, the least distinctive of them, and tastes a little more generic than i have generally come to expect from urban family. nothing about the hop profile really stands out, which was not the case with the others, and while this is plenty well made and refined at all, it just tastes like another ipa to me. there is some spiciness to the hops, a higher alpha bitterness and sort of pine element, combined with the cat pee thing i often get from mosaic, but also some tropical fruitiness there in the center of the flavor. the aroma is a little more robust than the taste in terms of the hops, but both are bright with freshness, and the flavor transitions nicely from a fruitier middle to a quite bitter conclusion. there isnt a ton from the grain here, just enough structure to support all the hops and make the feel round and fuller, fermentation profile is nonexistent, which is a good thing here. nice beer, sturdy and flavorful, but next to all the other innovative hoppy beers they had flowing here, this one failed to stand out in terms of taste. on its own it might pop a little more, hope to try this one again in that context...
