cool beer here, one of the more interesting hoppy ones we had here, done with kveik yeast and with juniper branches, which really work well with whatever hops are in this, and give it a cool earthy, pine, and botanical complexion, not harsh in the least, and not too gin-esque, due to the bright fruitiness and citrus forward nature of the hops they have used in it. the yeast has some light esters to it, but seems to always play well with evergreen elements, whatever form they take in a beer, and thats also the case here. some light peppery notes kind of our of nowhere in the taste, distinct orange and clementine character, some green grape fruitiness too, not all citrus, and then more botanicals and juniper at the end than hops, moderate bitterness, and with a lot less hazy body density than most of the others we had in here, which makes it somewhat more drinkable despite the complexity of the flavor. nothing here is overdone, and while its unique, its also quite balanced, simple like most of theirs were on the grain side, but dry and with the yeast, almost a little funky and belgian at the end. cool beer, thoughtful and different, i was impressed overall with the ipa types this time around from these guys, not at all what i have held them in high regard for over the years, but add these styles to the already long list of what urban family does well!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
