a massively fruited marionberry sour here, super true expression of marionberries in a beer, maybe the best i have known, no mistaking it for anything else. im pretty sure its a kettle sour and not a wild beer, although there is some funk and some tannic interest to this, its mostly lactic, sharp and simple in profile, a little lemony which enhances the fruit, past tart but not exceedingly acidic, nice against the natural sweetness of these berries, there is great balance here. the pour is exotic looking, super saturated hazy pale purple with a stained pink head from the tap, thick as shaving cream and lasting, nice to see some head like that on a sour, all too uncommon. its pretty dense looking, thicker and maybe a tad less cleaned up than it could be, but the flavors are intense and yummy, juicy and vibrant, with wrinkles of blueberry, red wine grape, and tart red raspberry also in play, even though this is all different sides of the marionberry itself! so cool. maybe a subtle vanilla note somewhere along with some residual sugar gives it a slightly desserty vibe overall, but its not as sweet as many and it seems unforced in that direction. palate coating, summery in flavor, plenty lively in terms of carbonation, and overall both fun and unique in a style space that is getting increasingly samey. nice work on this one, absolutely wild color to it!
