One of three barrel-aged stout variants for 2024! Every year we brew a big batch of imperial stout,then barrel it down – this particular variant is coming out of Dry Fly triticale whiskey and bourbon barrels. After barrel-aging, we add additional ingredients – in this case Onda coffee.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a somewhat fizzy, very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a two finger dark chocolate head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, quality coffee, bakers chocolate, whiskey and Postum. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, fresh coffee, bakers chocolate, cocoa and whiskey. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. A rich, full bodied dark stout with excellent coffee and chocolate character. The coffee tastes a lot like a fresh brewed cuppa. Chocolate is complex and flavorful. The body is somewhat odd, very rich and creamy at first, but somewhat thinner than expected in the finish. Since this is so creamy to start with, it's hardly a problem. Quite coffee forward. I'll be watching for the other variants.
