Pour is mostly clear, but not particularly crisp. 15 years ago I would have called it 'hazy' but that has a different connotation nowadays... The head is a nice finger of solid old school bubbles. The body is a golden amber.
Nose has nice notes of pine and floral nectar. Maybe a touch of malts though I couldn't pin down more than that. It delivers on the promise of the west coast IPAs I grew up with back in the day.
The same holds true for the flavour. This is a solid no nonsense old school IPA that is a solid slab of pine and a bit of citrus with a nice maalt foundation that doesn't intrude, but is sturdy enough to let the blunt hops play their game without feeling flighty.
Decent effervescence, the only complaint I have is that the finish gets a little bit oily in that cling-y lime way that I usually only get in like NZ style hops, while this one is all old school west coast love.
Other than that this is a solid old school IPA. It isn't going to blow you away, and it's not necessarily particularly memorable, but it is a refreshing return to an era that seems to have been supplanted almost entirely and I am grateful that there is at least some resurgence, even if it's just little side ideas and one offs here and there.
