Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a deep brown color with a finger’s worth of hazelnut colored head. Sly trickling lace. The aroma had some roast, baker’s chocolate, marshmallow/or somewhat like vanilla tones, ash and then some grassy effects. The flavor tried to blend the roast to the sweet, but had that separated sort of taste to it. Came in waves, sometimes sweet, sometimes roasty. Aftertaste was more marshmallow. Finish was just sweet. The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps a tad under with a fair sessionable quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, wishing the flavor was more combined. But for the most part, it wasn’t bad.

Tap at the brew pub.
Super dark mahogany almost blackish brown little light, light fizzy head.
Nose nice roast notes, mild cocoa and malted milk ball biscuit, creamy lactose,
Taste nice, creamy porter, little cocoa, creamy lactose, bit stout like mild bitterness, touch of roast, touch caramel, faint roasty note, etc. Nice long finish little creamy dried lactose bitter mild hops, etc.
Mouth is med bod, nice lactose and little roast and cocoa.
Overall pretty solid porter, nothing crazy about it, just a nice enjoyable creamy slight cocoa roasty stout like porter.

On-tap at the High Horse Brewery in Amherst.
Appearance: Dark as night, beautiful tan head, nice lacing.
Smell: Dark chocolates, roasted notes, just what a robust American porter should greet your nose with.
Taste: Velvety smooth, robust chocolates, roasted malts, no alcohol heat.
Mouthfeel: Heavy-bodied but at 5% it's smooth, nice roasted mouthfeel on the end.
Overall: One of the best American-style porters I've had in a while. Very drinkable.

On tap last night, reviewed from notes.
A- Black pour into pint glass with a small tan head of decent size. Bubbly ring and cloud, good webs of lace.
S- Milk chocolate and dark fruit mostly. Coffee notes as well from roasted malts.
T- Hops come in here which I couldn't detect in the nose, hops are citrus and pine. Most of the flavor comes from roast malt, sweet milk chocolate and slight dark fruit.
MF- Creamy moderate body. Carbonation is also at a medium level. Slightly hop bitter.
Solid porter, nice dark notes of malt, cocoa. Hops surprised me but it was nice.
