Poured a deep red body with a dark brown center and two fingers of thick white head. A good looking beer, quite appealing. Scents of oak, sour, wild, funky, barnyard Belgian yeast, light hard water and metallic twang, moderate sweet red berries, mostly strawberries with lesser notes of raspberries, medium-light notes of sugar cookie and candy-like sweetness. Overall impression of aroma is of a wonderful Flanders Red, funky, sour, fruity, simply wonderful and with a hint of sweet red wine to boot in the for of the red berries. Very nice. Flavor begins with notes of oak, and very watered down raspberry and strawberry flavors with an extremely light sourness. Middle opens up flavors of slight sour funk to the aforementioned flavor profile. Finish is lightly dry, still watery, with notes of red wine that is heavily watered down, along with the previous flavors. Aftertaste is light funk, spicy, clove-like Belgian yeast. Overall impression of aroma is of a very disappointing sour. It is extremely watery and lacks any real flavors. What is there is good, but it is so muted that it doesn't impress. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium-high carbonation and a watery feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a watery, light beer that does not fit the style at all. Overall this is a disappointing beer. It has a very good initial aroma, but the flavor and mouthfeel are not true to style at all and are so watery as to be barely a sour. Not terrible, but a disappointment.
