For many brewers and craft beer drinkers, the hop is arguably beers most revered and recognizable ingredient. Hop forward beers remain the king of styles often serving as a breweries flagship. We created this Double IPA to showcase the diverse range of flavors and aromas different hop varieties can impart. Five different hops in seven additions during the brew give this beer all the characteristics a hop head seeks. Citrus and tropical fruit notes, pepper and spice, all the way to pungent resinous pine, Elevation Double IPA pays homage to this ingredient and the culture it created.

I have wanted to travel to this brewery for a few years now. After I dropped my daughter off from her summer vacation, I made my way to this brewery. I will do a place review later. I selected as many beers as I could purchase without taking out a loan, and I came close to it. I picked a DIPA to sip on tonight. The temperature hovered around 48 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour created a frothy and creamy two-fingered head with above-averaged retention. The somewhat slow dissipation left bits of lacing on the glass. Examining the color, it looks like it charts around SRM 4, pale gold with a straw yellow hue. Studying the clarity, I determined this beer is clear. This information rules out NEIPA or hazy IPA. The appearance of the beer is average for this style.
I smell pine resin, toasted bread crust, grapefruit, a slight pharmaceutical note, peaches, and a slight floral ester. Swirling the glass several times, I also detected a hint of grass and lychee notes. I was not expecting the nose to come across as a touch muted. For me, I enjoy a fragrant Double IPA.
I am sadly reporting the taste comes across as muted. The malt in the beer is heavy and sweet. Flavors that I taste are pine needles, orange rind, grapefruit, floral esters, a slight pharmaceutical note, peaches, mangos, a touch of grass, and bay leaves.
The mouthfeel is slick and oily yet finishes astringent. The body is heavy with medium-light carbonation.
I desperately wanted to love this beer. It has this odd hop profile. Often I see this in hybrid beers; is it West Coast or New England? I am resolved to list this beer as par. It does fit the criteria for DIPA, but I have drank much better.

12oz can poured in to a nonic glass. Can't make out the dating.
Medium amber color, modest off-white head that recedes slowly to a thin cap. Solid lacing and light carbonation streaming as it sits.
Smell is pithy citrus, caramel type malts, grassy/earthy hops.
Taste is much more citrus and hoppy centric with a nice malt backbone.
Feel is the heavier side of medium, slightly sweet with a light residual bitterness.
O- A solid DIPA, probably wouldn't seek it out but wouldn't turn one down if it was handed to me.

12 oz can. Pours hazy straw gold with a medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is subdued - some sulfury malt with some fruity hops.
The flavor is sweet bready malts with fruity resiny spicy hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a decent DIPA.
