12oz can from Brewers Haven. Orange golden pour, airy head. Aroma is fruity, strawberries. Taste is more of the fruity, pie filling flavors. Tart? Hardly. Pleasant, sweet dessert beer.

12oz can poured into my HotD snifter. Golden body with some haze but mostly clear, and a large off-white head that fades quickly. Tart strawberry and rhubarb are deliciously apparent on the nose and palate, with a backing of baking spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla sweetness. Lactose as well. Creamy and savory and totally enjoyable, as most of these dessert beers have been from Shades.

the first i have seen of these as a collaboration, this one done with templin family up the road, not sure what they contributed to this, this seems pretty in line with what shades has been doing with the series so far. speaking of the series, im afraid its starting to define them, so many beers in it, they dont really have any other flavors out, at least around boise, and while these have been tasty and a lot of fun, im not sure they want to be known as a one trick pony in this space, obviously these beers are too good to be gimmicky, but the line is close, especially if you havent tasted them, so its a curious choice. this is really nicely flavored, done with strawberries and rhubarb, vanilla, cinnamon, graham cracker, and lactose, and has just a little bit of a pink hue from the can, quite hazy and without a lot of head, same as most of these have been, but never quite as chunky and gross as a lot of them towards the bottom. the aroma and flavor is definitely a tart berry baked desserty, no denying, vanilla sweetness with the natural rhubarb is gorgeous, and the sweet jammy cooked strawberries are highly authentic as well. you can truly taste the graham crackers in this also as the crust, and the cinnamon and lactose are complimentary but peripheral, not overdone at all, which would have been an easy trap to fall into in a beer like this. the sourness is really mild, the fruit is very natural, and it all goes together exceedingly well. soda-like carbonation, more than it looks like it should have, appearing almost flat in the glass, but lively enough to drink. overall really pretty good, better than a novelty beer, and the flavors are on point, but like always with this series, i wish they could clean it up a little bit in terms of all the sediment. if they could, these would get them national attention!
