by no means should this be good, but it slays, in fact its epic, so cool what these guys are doing, and this is better than a lot of them. heck, this isnt even their first tomato beer! its done with tomato, oregano, and basil, and its absolutely fire, more pizza sauce than spaghetti to me, but its all the the family. its crazy how natural the tomato is, the acidity of the fruit right there with the lactic souring of the beer, they play off each other nicely, and the sourness sort of carries the tomato through the whole drink. i get oregano in front of basil, which is why i say pizza sauce, but both are readily identifiable, fresh and oily and fragrant, really cool with the tomato, unexpectedly compatible with sour beer too, like the concept shouldnt work but it does. i get some starch from a raw type or super pale earthy wheat grain base, almost works like pasta water if i let it, which brings the novel idea of this beer home in a wonderful way. its not too acidic to drink, nicely carbonated from the can, and the flavors are fresh and fabulous. its not the prettiest thing to look at, reddish and murky and without much head, but it is less sedimented than a lot of their cans have been so a step in the right direction there at least. downright awesome, creative and well executed, natural on the added ingredients which is key, and overall something quite memorable. among my favorites of all of them so far!
